& Challenging Behaviors

About Our Practice

At Hamilton Family Counseling, we specialize in therapy for children ages 1-12 with big emotions and challenging behaviors such as whining, crying, fears, outbursts, arguing, inattention, hyperactivity, or difficulty following rules, instructions, or routines. Let’s work together to transform your child’s challenges into triumphs and increase the peace and connection in your home.

Evidenced Based Treatment Options

One of the main treatments we provide is Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), which many experts consider to be the gold standard in treating childhood disruptive behaviors as hundreds of studies over 40 years have shown PCIT to be nurturing and effective.

We also provide the
Parent-Child Care (PC-CARE), developed at UC Davis Children’s Hospital. PC-CARE can be completed in 6 treatment sessions, has been shown by research to have a greater rate of improvement than PCIT in that time period, and was created to be flexible and tailored to each family’s strengths and values.

Locations & Home Treatment Options

We offer in-person as well as a hybrid online option. In both cases, the child always receives in-person intervention directly from their parent while the therapist watches through a laptop and coaches the parent in the play and behavior therapy skills through an earpiece.

With the hybrid and home treatment model, the therapist remains at the office, but the family receives real-time support through the laptop and earpiece from the comfort of their own home where behaviors are usually the most difficult. Many families prefer online therapy because it saves time and money on driving and child care for siblings during appointments.

Hybrid services are available throughout California & Oregon. In-person appointments are available in our Rancho Cucamonga office. See map below.
